Brian Mackie teaching and coaching students to reach their potential since 1964
Director and chief instructor of the I.K.G.A. in Australia is Brian Mackie. Brian a 7th Dan Kyoshi Shihan, has been teaching at the Karate Academy of Japan in Perth since 1966.
Australia's first Gold Medallist in an official International Championships, Brian became the Australian Karate Federation's National Coach on his retirement from international competition.
The major factor in your advancement will be your instructor. I am privileged to be a student of Goshi Yamaguchi, Grand Master of the International Goju-Kai Karate-do Association. In 2001 I was awarded my 7th Dan black belt and hold the rank Kyoshi a Masters teaching degree from Master Yamaguchi. For the past 40 years I have successfully represented Australia as a competitor and National Team Coach. As the Director of Goju-Kai Oceana I personally ensure that the level of instruction you will receive at any of our clubs will be of the highest standard.
Under Shihan Mackie's guidance Vasilios (Basil) Gotsis 4th Dan Instructor who has coached at international level and completed countless seminars with Saiko Goshi Yamaguchi Hanshi 8th Dan President of the IKGA will hold classes at Brian Mackie's Karate O'Conner and ensure all have the opportunity and encouragement to accomplish their own potential.
Basil an accredited IKGA Instructor has been with the Academy for over 24 years and has represented Australia successfully in International Competition as a competitor and as a Coach for IKGA National Team. During this time Basil has trained exclusively under Kyoshi Brian Mackie and was awarded Instructor status in 1998. He has participated in many of Saiko Shihan ( Chief Instructor of the International Karate-do Goju-Kai Association ) (IKGA) seminars in Japan ,Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Holland, South Africa to mention a few and is well qualified to instruct all level practitioners in Karate as a means of self defense, a fast action sport or excellent means of keeping fit and flexible.
He has been instructing in the Melville area since 1998 and has produced many students of a high standard of which a considerable number have also competed at international level bringing home medals for Australia.
His love of the art and the emphasis of high moral values is reflected in his enthusiasm and teaching. His clubs are vibrant and energetic and his students are quick to participate in all activities involving Karate .

The traditional drills , fitness and flexibility exercises are combined with stimulating games to make our classes both enjoyable and productive.
Our regular “Development Competition “ offers juniors the opportunity to compete at their own level. With the skills and experience gained many of our students have succeeded in State National and International Tournaments recently for the 6th IKGA World Championships in India they achieved 5 Gold, 10 Silver and 18 Bronze medals.
